Taking learning outdoors
Whatever your reason for taking classes outdoors, SNH can help you find and use the best places to go. Get deeper into your own subject, demonstrate how it relates to all the others, or simply show the kids how enjoyable nature can be.
Outdoor Learning
is a new web resource developed by Learning Teaching Scotland (LTS) in partnership with SNH, Forestry Commission Scotland and the Scottish Advisory Panel for Outdoor Education.

The Royal Highland Education Trust
( RHET) take classes to farms and farmers to classes. They are experts in risk assessment for school visits and very busy in the spring and summer - so book early.
National Nature Reserves
(NNRs) are the perfect places to really experience the natural world and our staff can help you make the best of it.

to give you over 60 amazing places to visit to discover the very best of nature.
Scottish Outdoor Access Code
"Access rights extend to any educational activities concerned with furthering a person's understanding of the natural or cultural heritage. For example, access rights would extend to the students, leader and any support staff on a visit to the outdoors to learn about wildlife or landscapes or geological features." (from SOAC 2.9)
