Forests and woodlands
Scotland's woodlands provide a broad range of benefits to people and much of Scotland's wildlife depends on woodland. Many animals depend on trees from tiny wood ants to the turkey-sized capercaillie.
Community woodlands can offer people of all ages and interests opportunities to get involved in their local woodland and Forest Schools give children, young people and adults, a chance for regular hands on learning experiences in a local woodland.
