The Outdoor Learning Directory external site is a one stop shop for all your outdoor learning needs, where you can find information on funding, resources, places, training and people who can help. 

Find your local Countryside Ranger Service external site .  Different ranger services are able to offer different sorts of support. 

Anyone can exercise access external site rights over most land and inland water in Scotland, providing they do so responsibly. You can exercise these rights for most educational purposes as well as for recreation. There are plenty places to go

National Nature Reserves external site (NNRs) are perfect places to really experience the natural world.  Some of our reserves have staff or education packs to help you make the best of them. 

Funding may still be available for voluntary groups, however, we no longer fund schools directly. This funding is now passed directly from the Scottish Government to your Local Authority and should therefore still be available to you. Schools wishing to improve their grounds for biodiversity and learning and teaching, may wish to refer to the Garden for Life series of free downloadable leaflets which give advice about plants to attract wildlife and wildlife gardening tips.  Grounds for Learning external site , supported by ourselves and others, help schools develop and use their grounds and local area.
