Become a Board Member

Members are appointed by the Scottish Government.

All Board Member vacancies are advertised by the Scottish Government in a range of relevant national and local press.  Vacancies also appear on the appointments website:-

www.appointed-for-scotland.org external site .

Appointments are made following an open recruitment process, including interviews with the short-listed candidates.

Members are usually appointed for an initial term of 3 years and normally serve a maximum of two terms.

Members are appointed on an individual basis and not as representatives of organisations or bodies.  They will have experience in one or more aspects of SNH's remit (which covers the care and improvement of Scotland's natural heritage, its responsible enjoyment, its greater understanding and appreciation and its sustainable use).
