Access to information
Information about SNH and about nature
SNH has a legal duty to provide access to any of its information to anyone who asks. The Freedom of Information (Scotland) Act 2002 and the Environmental Information (Scotland) Regulations 2004 give everyone the right of access to information. The Act gives access to information about SNH and the Regulations give access to information held by SNH about Scotland's nature and environment.

Information about you
The Data Protection Act 1998 gives everyone the right of access to information about themselves. SNH holds information about people for various purposes, for example:
- anyone receiving payments from us;
- those who have written to us about any issue;
- those who have responded to consultations;
- anyone who has requested publications; and
- anyone that is currently, or has been, a member of SNH staff.
Information through our Website
SNH aims to publish as much information as possible through our website. Before you make a request to SNH for information please check our website to see if the information you need is already available. Popular queries can be answered using:
