"Magical Places" in a magical place

Have you every wondered what catches the eye of those who work on Scotland's National Nature Reserves?  Now is your chance to have an insight into some of the wonders experienced by Scotland's NNR Team in a special exhibition of images from some truly magical places across the country. From Dumfries to the Isle of May, Argyll to Ben Wyvis, the images are a testimony to the beauty of the Scottish landscape and its wildlife, and a reminder of the rich and diverse natural heritage we are fortunate to have.  Magical Places kicks off the 2012 series of exhibitions at the open air venue the Piggery on Taynish NNR, Tayvallich, and will run from 29th March - 30th April 2012. There are no access restrictions to the exhibition so you can visit any time of day, 7 days a week.

Argyll & the Isles Coast and Countryside Trust Consultation

Scottish Natural Heritage has formed a partnership with Argyll and Bute Council, Forestry Commission Scotland, Argyll and Bute Social Enterprise Network and Argyll and Bute Local Services Initiative to look at the possibility of setting up a new independent trust. The proposed aim of the trust would be to; "Work together to sustainably maintain, enhance and promote the coast and countryside of Argyll and the Isles for the benefit of communities, business and visitors." The remit of the trust would include outdoor access, marine and coastal, built environment and biodiversity projects. Following a competitive tendering exercise, STAR (Small Town and Rural Development Group) consultants were appointed to look at how a trust could operate in Argyll and Bute. Workshops will be held across the area during April and May to determine public support. For further information on the trust and how to get involved in the workshops, please visit the Argyll and Bute Council website external site .
