Raising awareness
Raising awareness and understanding of Scotland's nature and landscapes, across all of Scotland, for everyone, is one of our main purposes. Good communications are vital to delivering this purpose.

Our communication campaigns
We also have four key communications campaigns:
Climate Change - Find out more about Climate Change
Enjoying the outdoors - This campaign supports increased participation in outdoor recreation and aims to get more people outdoors more often.
The campaign's call is to encourage more people to enjoy nature on their doorstep, more often. We want people to discover the biodiversity, habitats, species, geo-diversity and landscapes close to their home and increase participation by adults in outdoor recreation through walking and cycling, as part of everyday life.
Our communications aim to help people to:
- choose places to go close to where they live,
- explore country parks, regional parks, national parks, local nature reserves and national nature reserves,
- local path networks and
- long distance routes.
We want to promote what to see, what to do and how to do it while exercising outdoor access rights responsibly.

Our communications strategy
We have developed a Communications Strategy to ensure we have effective and focused communications and to identify key priorities. We want to:
- Continue to improve the effectiveness of our communications
- Raise awareness, understanding and appreciation of who we are, what we are, what we do, why we do it and the value we deliver to the people of Scotland
- Raise awareness of issues affecting Scotland's nature and get more people involved in enjoying, supporting and looking after Scotland's nature
- Deliver good communications as part of a dynamic and collaborative corporate culture
- Be a vital, open, collaborative, supportive and respected organisation making a positive contribution to life in Scotland.
We also work with the other agencies who help provide Scotland's Environment and Rural Services to deliver more collaborative and "joined-up" approaches to communications, including good practice guides and joint attendance at events like the The Royal Highland Show.
Our website
The redevelopment of this website has been one of our priorities. We hope that this website and the breadth and diversity of information that you can find here will help to raise awareness and understanding of Scotland's nature and landscapes and of our role in caring for them.
