Providing services for SNH

As a government-funded organisation we strive to deliver the best possible value for taxpayers in everything that we do. Therefore as a non departmental public body our procurement guidelines are based on five key principles which always apply to public sector procurement, regardless of contract value:

  • Equal treatment - giving everyone the same chance to win the contract irrespective of their nationality or whether you know them or not.
  • Transparency - stating requirements upfront and sticking to them.
  • Proportionality - setting requirements with reference to the needs of the contract in question.
  • Mutual Recognition - giving equal validity to qualifications and standards from all Member States (EU), where appropriate.
  • Confidentiality - respecting the confidentiality of any information received regarding tenders and tenderers.

To achieve this Scottish Natural Heritage advertises its contract opportunities on the Scottish National Advertising Portal 'Public Contracts Scotland': www.publiccontractsscotland.gov.uk external site

Opportunities can come under a wide variety of categories, some of which are listed below:

  • Research, Survey and Monitoring - eg Habitat Survey, Marine Monitoring - see our Information for Research Contractors
  • Buildings Maintenance and Facilities Management
  • Promotions, Marketing and Publications
  • Environmental Education and Interpretation
  • Consultancy Services - ie IT, Research. Supplies and Services

Suppliers of goods or services to Scottish Natural Heritage must satisfy a number of requirements, according to the type of contract:

  • General terms and conditions relating to the supply of goods and services (see related links at right)
  • Health and safety requirements  PDF document including insurance requirements related to the type of work
  • Sustainability requirements  PDF document to help us meet the objectives of our environmental management policy
  • For tendered work prospective suppliers may be asked to complete a pre-qualification questionnaire  Word document  (Word document), as a prior sift before being invited to tender.
