Events

A wide range of fun and inspiring outdoor events and activities take place each year throughout Scotland. These can be a great way of finding out about places and things to do, and for meeting other people.

We hold lots of exciting events and organised walks on many of our National Nature Reserves.

There are are lots of events run by local ranger services across Scotland. You can find out about these by visiting the website for your local authority or by using the Scottish Countryside Rangers Association  website.

An easy way of finding out about lots of local events organised by bodies like the Woodland Trust, the Scottish Wildlife Trust and many others is through the Things to do   website.

National events

Then there are a number of national events. There's the Royal Highland Show  in June each year as well as a huge range of local shows close to where you live keep an eye on your local paper for more information.

If you want an active holiday, there are many access festivals around Scotland. These provide organised walks in groups and can be a great way of discovering a new area or building up your confidence to venture further afield.

There'll be a lot of events celebrating our fantastic wildlife as part of the International Year of Biodiversity in 2010.
