Cairngorms National Park

3 Trails Through Time

Ancient peaks and molten rock, tropical mountains and Ice Age Glaciers -  The Cairngorms have dramatic stories to tell. Trails through Time explores the landscape and geology of 3 popular walks. Let the pictorial guides help you find clues to reveal the exciting stories.

  • Allt Mòr : Walk beside a truly wild mountain torrent, the Allt Mòr, as it plunges down a secluded gorge from the ski centre up near the windswept northern corries down through the sheltered pinewoods of Glenmore.
  • Ryvoan: Walk the Robbers Road through the mountain pass of Ryvoan, and follow in the way taken first by ancient glaciers and then by the animals and people who came here once the ice melted.
  • Farleitter Crag: This ice sculpted crag gives rewarding views of Strathspey and the Feshie Hills, while the trail around Uath Lochans gives time to reflect on the origins of an unusual place.
