Discovering Edinburgh's volcano
Walk into the heart of Edinburgh's famous volcano. The Royal Park of Holyrood contains the worn down remains of an ancient volcano.
The guide takes you on a journey through time, discover past volcanic eruptions, ashes and lavas, and find out what happened to the volcano once it became extinct. This is a place that inspired James Hutton in his writing of the Theory of the Earth, which became the foundations of modern geological science.
