Explore coasts and islands
Opportunities to explore the coastal scenery are just as dramatic and diverse, from the wonderful seabird cliffs of Hermaness
(Shetland NSA) in the north, to the magnificent mud and merse of Caerlaverock
(Nith Estuary NSA) in Dumfries and Galloway.
The west coast has some of the most breathtaking seascapes, and what better way to appreciate them than to stroll from Seilebost to the Bays of Harris
or to saunter along the Singing Sands of Eigg
(Small Isles NSA).
The east coast has its gems too, including the 'million-dollar view' of the Dornoch Firth NSA from Struie Hill
. A real highlight of the Hoy and West Mainland NSA is the walk out to the infamous sea stack, the Old
Man of Hoy
.
Reaching the high points of islands such as the Goatfell
(North Arran NSA) gives a brilliant birds eye view of the landscape. And though the viewpoint on Inchcailloch
is only 94 metres, it provides a fantastic outlook over the wooded islands and bonny banks of Loch Lomond NSA.
