Country parks

Most Country Parks lie close to larger cities and towns and they provide convenient places to enjoy the outdoors. Attractive, accessible and well-designed, these venues are particularly good places to take the whole family. Facilities are available such as car parks and toilets, and some have visitor centres and cafes.

Country Parks are excellent places for walking, cycling, picnics, barbecues and fun days out. There are also Ranger Services which can provide information about the wildlife you can see and the events and activities you can join in with. Scotland has 40 Country Parks, most of which are owned and managed by local authorities, although some are in the care of the National Trust for Scotland and other private landowners.
