Nature Reserves (SNH)

Scottish Natural Heritage own and / or manage a number of nature reserves across Scotland. We manage these sites primarily for their natural heritage interest. They are all protected as Sites of Special Scientific Interest (SSSI) and a number of them are also Natura sites of European importance.  Some of these sites are managed on our behalf by other organisations, and we manage some in agreement with their owners.

You are welcome to visit our nature reserves but there are limited, or no facilities, provided on them. For more information on SNH's nature reserves have a look at the links below.

If you would prefer to visit sites with more facilities for visitors then have a look at Scotland's National Nature Reserves (NNR) website. external site    You can find out more about visiting Scotland's NNRs including information on where they are, what you are likely to see and what there is to do.
