Towns and cities

Many opportunities to get out and enjoy the outdoors are just minutes from your doorstep. For people living in Scotland's towns and cities, and for visitors too, parks, gardens and other green spaces provide places to get some fresh air, relax and recharge the batteries. You might even spot some interesting wildlife!

Footpaths, canal towpaths and cycleways provide opportunities to get around while avoiding the hustle and bustle of busy roads and traffic. See if your local path network can take you to school, to visit friends, or to nearby green spaces where you and your family can enjoy being outdoors without having to travel too far from home.

You might discover that there is a Country Park or a Local Nature Reserve that you can visit on foot or cycle.

If you're unsure about what to do, there are many local activity clubs and groups around Scotland which can help.
