Funding for prevention of wildlife crime

PAW Scotland, through Scottish Natural Heritage, previously funded new and innovative projects tackling wildlife crime in Scotland under one or more of the following activity areas:

  • Prevention
  • Intelligence
  • Enforcement

For 2012-13, you can apply for projects tackling wildlife crime using the standard SNH grant application process.  If you have any wildlife crime project ideas, please contact Ben Ross - telephone: 01463 725245 or email: Ben.Ross@snh.gov.uk.

What is wildlife crime?

Wildlife crime can be categorised as:

  • Illegal trade in endangered species
  • Crimes involving native species which are endangered or of conservation concern - including killing species, taking them from the wild and destroying protected habitats
  • Cruelty to, and the persecution of, wildlife species
