What is TIBRE?

TIBRE - Targeted Inputs for a Better Rural Environment - is an initiative by Scottish Natural Heritage that aims to show how technology can be used in farming to benefit the environment.

TIBRE aims to show that environmentally responsible farming can be compatible with intensive methods and strong business objectives. Many new developments in technology that will improve the business performance of the farm can reduce the risk to the environment that may result from farming.

The TIBRE Arable Handbook provides information on 49 technologies and techniques including crop protection chemicals, machinery, diagnostics, information technology, fertilisers and crop varieties. It is developed and maintained up-to-date in close consultation with a group of arable farmers and advisers in Scotland.

We have now stopped the TIBRE Arable Handbook project. The TIBRE website, will close down early 2011. The information is being taken on and developed by LEAF (Linking Environment And Farming).
