Priority 1– Protected areas
Proposed Scottish Natural Heritage activities
- raise awareness among Scottish Natural Heritage and its customers about the carbon stored in protected areas and the contribution that this makes to mitigating climate change;
- support and engage on research activities that inform management decisions about carbon sequestration and the reduction of emissions from soils;
- review our National Nature Reserve management practices to ensure that they take account of climate change mitigation and adaptation measures and demonstrate how soils can best be managed alongside the biodiversity interests.
