National Nature Reserves in Scotland
Where are they ?
There are more than fifty National Nature Reserves in Scotland. These special places, showcasing the very best of Scotland's nature, cover less than 1.5% of Scotland.
The northernmost National Nature Reserve is Hermaness
at the northern tip of Shetland. At the opposite end of the country is Caerlaverock
on the shores of the Solway Firth. National Nature Reserves are located all over the country and include some of our best known wildlife sites such as Beinn Eighe
, Loch Leven
and St Kilda
, as well as less familiar, yet equally spectacular, reserves like Clyde Valley Woodlands
on the outskirts of Glasgow or Blawhorn Moss
not far from Edinburgh.
The NNR website has a map
showing the location of all of the National Nature Reserves in Scotland.
