Climate change and geodiversity

Climate change and sea-level rise are happening now and we are already locked into future changes as a result of past emissions of greenhouse gases resulting from the activities of man.  Climate change will extend well beyond the AD2100 timescale of current climate projections. Such a timescale is outside the normal time frames of most policy makers, planners and ordinary people.

What can we learn of the Earth's past, through study of our geodiversity, to help us deal with climate change now and in the future?
