Bird's nest stonewort - update

The following are brief summaries of some of the action that we and our partners have done since the Species Action Framework was launched. They're in chronological order, with the most recent updates at the top of the page.

2009

Scottish Natural Heritage commissioned a detailed survey of the distribution  of bird's nest stonewort in Loch an t-Sruith Mhoir and Loch an Duin in North Uist. The results are awaited.

Pressures on stoneworts include changes in salinity, eutrophication and species succession, although threats to current or recent bird's nest stonewort sites need further assessment. Potential pressures to the species are also being assessed at the Uist sites as part of the 2009 survey.
