Sea eagle Management Scheme

Scottish Natural Heritage operates a sea eagle management scheme open to applicants managing land within the vicinity of breeding sea eagles. These can be currently found within Inner and Outer Hebrides including Mull, Skye, parts of mainland Argyll, Lochaber and Wester Ross.

The scheme is operated on behalf of the Sea Eagle Partnership comprising, amongst others, Scottish Government, RSPB, SLE, NFUS, Scottish Crofting Federation, FCS and Visit Scotland.

The scheme aims to;

  • Provide opportunities to undertake more projects for the benefit of sea eagles (for example, providing improved feeding habitat, nesting sites or roost areas).
  • Spread the economic benefits of the presence of sea eagles to a wider section of the community (for example, through new projects which help people to view sea eagles or create other tourism opportunities based upon the presence of sea eagles).
  •  Assist positive management of land and livestock which reduces the impact of the foraging behaviour of sea eagles on agricultural enterprises.

The scheme is open to applications until 29th June 2012. Further application periods will be announced each year until Autumn 2013 when the scheme closes.

If you are interested in applying to the scheme please make contact with your local Scottish Natural Heritage representative (listed on the final page of the scheme booklet) before filling in an application form.

Further information can be found in the scheme booklet which is available in English and Gaelic.

PDF Application Forms are available to download in English and can be completed in either English or Gaelic.

Once you have completed your application form please submit by mail or email to your local contact.  A listing of all contacts can be found on the final page of the scheme booklet.
