Venison dealers licence

In order to sell venison you must be registered as a venison dealer and have a venison dealers licence.

Scottish Natural Heritage do not issue venison dealers licences. To apply for a venison dealers licence contact your local authority.

Venison dealers returns.

SNH require all licensed venison dealers in Scotland submit their records of all purchases and receipts of venison for the period 1st April - 31st March each year.

You may be requested to submit records annually or monthly, by post or email to SNH. The wildlife operations unit will contact you to request these returns if you are registered as a venison dealer. 

You are required to keep records for 3 years and to produce records for inspection by SNH or a Police Officer and to allow them to take copies.
