SNH Commissioned Report 786: Scottish saltmarsh survey national report
This report presents the results of a 3-year long survey of Scotland's saltmarshes. This is the first detailed, comprehensive national survey of the habitat in Scotland, and it means there is now detailed mapped information on all of Scotland's 'soft coasts' - surveys of dune, machair and shingle have already been completed. The project delivered a map of the vegetation of all saltmarshes over 3 hectares or longer than 500 m, as well as an assessment of condition of all sites. Covering 249 locations, 7.7.04 ha were surveyed, of which 5,840 ha were classified as saltmarsh.
