Biodiversity

Scotland's biodiversity is of national and international importance; many of our habitats are specifically listed in European Directives as needing special protection and restoration such as Caledonian forest and blanket bog. Ministers in Scotland have placed a duty of care for Biodiversity on all statutory bodies through the Nature Conservation (Scotland) Act 2004. Our research is focused around the causes of change in biodiversity and supporting restoration programmes.
