Scotland's Trends
Scotland's wildlife is diverse and stunning, but that is not to say that all of it is as secure or as abundant as it might be. Globally, biodiversity is being lost at an increasing rate. A consistent approach to assessing progress through targets and indicators has been adopted in Scotland. At the start of 2010, the International year of Biodiversity, we published a report, called 'Scotland's Wildlife - an assessment of biodiversity in 2010', which charts our progress towards halting biodiversity loss. The report was updated at the end of 2010 in light of new data and is available here to download.
It is important that we know what changes are taking place in Scotland. We collate information on trends that show how Scotland's wildlife, special places and the engagement in Scotland's environment by Scotland's people is changing over time. This information is continually being updated, so keep looking at this page to see what new information is available.
