Advising Others
SNH’s functions include advising Ministers, the public sector and the public on matters that affect the natural heritage
SNH Guidance
This section contains our work on emerging policy, our responses to Government consultations and issues on which SNH currently seeks views.
A key element of our policy development is advising Government and others on a wide range of issues. SNH advises government on the development of policy and the formulation of legislation relating to the natural heritage. We also have a major role in increasing awareness and understanding of countryside and conservation matters and carry out consultations on behalf of government.

Consultations
We respond to Government consultations and draw together views on issues affecting the natural heritage through public consultation work.
Policy Development – SNH Policies
Our policies explain the approach that we take to issues affecting the natural heritage. They outline our philosophy and vision and provide a framework for our actions. We hope they will be a positive influence on other organisations and the actions of society in general.
