| Thu 5 Nov 2009 | Sharing Good Practice - Marine Renewables and Our Natural Heritage Stirling Management Centre, University of Stirling |
| The offshore wind, wave and tide resource around Scotland is vast and its exploitation will be key to the achievement of Scottish Government’s renewables targets. Equally, Scotland’s seas are home to an incredible range of wildlife, including species protected under national and international legislation. This workshop will consider how best to locate and enable renewables development at sea while safeguarding those species and habitats most susceptible to harm. Anticipated themes include spatial planning, impact assessment, mitigation and monitoring. The event should be directly relevant to regulators of the industry, developers and their consultants. Marine renewable technologies have not yet been widely deployed and little is known about their interactions with wildlife. This workshop will not provide all the answers to this problem. It will, hopefully, increase understanding of the challenges faced by industry and regulators, and encourage the development and adoption of practices that facilitate development and meet our environmental objectives. - Presentations |

| Wed 27 Jan 2010 | Sharing Good Practice - Social Marketing Scotland's Outdoors - beyond the usual suspects Battleby Conference Centre, Battleby, Redgorton, Perth, PH1 3EW |
| Our natural heritage is an important resource for improving the health and well-being of people in Scotland. But how do we get more people to enjoy the outdoors more regularly, and to realise the significant benefits from physical activity and contact with nature? Traditional approaches have focused on improving the accessibility of the resource and information about it. While these approaches remain important, it is increasingly recognised that influencing public behaviour through social marketing also has a role to play in increasing participation in enjoying the outdoors. This is an opportunity to explore the tools and tactics of social marketing and how these can be applied in this context to involve, include and target people across the spectrum of abilities, ages, races, religions and genders. - Flyer - Booking Form - Presentations |
